The Possible Origins of Sars-Cov-2

  • Teaser: This has become a very hot topic politically as well as medically.

The conventional theory is that it was passed on from bats to humans at markets in Wuhan, China. While it is true that bats, as well as pigs, fowl and other animals pass on viruses in a mutated form to humans, at this point it is still just theory.

There was much speculation that the Level 4 Wuhan Institute of Virology could have been the source of the virus, and maybe leaked accidentally. The Chinese government denied this of course, but doubts remain. This medical institute had been working on the controversial “Gain of Function” research, that uses genetic splicing to enhance the capacity of viruses, which could be used in theory for vaccines or as part of a biodefence or biological warfare research. The interesting thing is that the Wuhan Institute had been working in partnership with the U.S. National Institutes of Health and also French researchers. The NIH had also been involved in Gain of Function Research at Fort Deitrick in Maryland, the centre of US biological warfare and also cancer and AIDS research laboratories. In 2014, this research was suspended in the USA and it was transferred to Wuhan. It only began again in the USA in 2017. In 2019, one laboratory at Fort Dietrick was closed down for six months due to bio-safety concerns. It opened up again in November 2019.

The political fall-out from Covid19 has been particularly significant. President Trump complained bitterly that China was responsible for covering up the magnitude of the pandemic and didn’t inform the world soon enough. He further criticized the World Health Organization of being complicit in siding with China and which led him to leave the organization. This has been part of a very tense political and economic fight with China, which preceded Covid19 but which has since grown much worse. It is now being used by some political commentators in the USA to further up the poltical ante with China, provoking an ever-strong response from China. Covid19 is therefore heating up the political rhetoric considerably. It is not helped by the fact that China is now back working while the USA is facing the biggest economic downtown in one hundred years. In fact, some commentators are thinking that this will be much worse than the Great Depression in 1929.

However, one thing that is not being seriously considered by mainstream media is that the virus could have been human made due to the nature of the research on viruses being carried out either in Wuhan or in U.S. laboratories. Interestingly the World Military Games were held in Wuhan, China last autumn, where military from all over the world attended. It is possible that this is where the virus first erupted and could have been brought into China with soldiers from the USA or originated from the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

The theory that SARS-COV-2 could have originated in a laboratory is explored in the following article in Independent Science News and is well worth reading, to put another perspective on this ever deepening crisis we are experiencing now. There are many possible angles to what is happening now and the article explores in depth what may have transpired and the way in which it is now being used politically. The article is titled:
